Flashy!

Hi all,
well today's a good day for me. My order from ebuyer arrived. It consisted of my new Razer Diamondback Plasma, which is awesome, some new fans, which have green LED's in them, some black thumbscrews, a fan guard and perhaps my current favourite aside from the mouse, some green cathodes. I got 2 x dual kits, so i've mounted one one light on each side of my case window. When i ordered these though, i didn't realise that you could have them on, off or sound controlled! Since i've got my subwoofer near the back of the case, i thought why not. I msut say it is a real sight! It looks ace when you get something that's got a bit of bass in it, like most of my playlist. If i can, i'll try and get some photos or videos of it. My whole mod just got a new lease of life.

Ok, i finally managed to get some pics of it. This first one is the case from the outside. The second one the case with the side panel off, note the cathodes on the window. The third picture shows my components engulfed in the glow, with the main focus being the hugh Akasa AK-120 Heatsink. The fourth picture is a diagram of how my fans are arranged and the direction of airflow. Note that the intake fan is mounted on the side panel.

This mod's old name; Etna. The mod's new name; iNtake.

Thought welcome, also any ideas how to make it better.

In the looks department, there is not much I can advise It's sweet!

Might be worth putting the top fan inside the case, with just the grill outside

Also, I would suggest maybe an intake fan to draw air over the HDD, and tie those cables back!

Whoa! Looks like your case went green with envy. [/cheesy]

But yeah, looks very cool indeed. I need to get a-hold of a 120mm red LED fan. Anyone have any ideas? D=

I can't put the fan inside, because my PSU is Modular, and the blowhole is too close to the PSU. However, it is excellent at removing heat, in the middle of a BF2 session, you can feel the heat.

Oooh, look at the HDR on the first 3 pictures

And front page! *cheers*

Last thing, Favu, i didn't realise you'd added me to MSN, i thought it was someone else.

Well my dad cut it since he's a welder. I just told him where i wanted it. Something to note is that you should try and do it outside, but somewhere sheltered, like a carport. Do not use water when cutting as there's no need if you go at the right rate. Don't go too fast with the drill, take t nice and easy. And last thing, DO NOT use a carbon drill piece, especially on aluminium cases and the drill bit just wears down and only scratches the paint on the case. However, if it's an aluminium case, and the scratches are small, the case will actually heal itself, seriously, my case had some small scratches on top but they were noticable, a few weeks later, they'd gone.

I would leave the paint to go off fully before attempting to cut it. Some paint can take a long time to go off. Leave it for 3 months to be sure.

Cover the entire surface with masking tape before putting any power tools near it.

The paint I have on mine is car paint, sprayed on at a car body shop and then baked, it is fairly sturdy and doesnt chip too easily however Im worried about cutting a hole and all the paint just letting go, that would be most upsetting for me.

Nice job. And the fact your dad is a welder is a great thing as I have found welders to be well... just great people... Now for that overly intense green lighting. well hey I love it!! I am sick of all the blue. My blue case and desk and 90% of all cases you see have blue lights and or fans. nice to see good work.

Thanks. Since these pictures were taken, i've moved the side panel fan to the front of the case as an intake to cool the HDD's and i've also removed the cathodes on the side panel as they kept falling off when they got too hot. More piccies in a few days when i've sorted out my watercooling setup. That's got UV green coolant in it so that's good for the theme.

Wow, that's really bright lol. Looks great though.

I've heard some bad things about cathodes, like overheating problems and stuff like that, but are they working pretty good for you? I'm thinking about getting some if they seem to work alright most of the time.

Well, if ebuyer deliver to US, get some of their cathodes, cheap but as good as any others. I've now removed the back case fan as well as all the cathodes. I need to get some more i think since most of them snapped when i was trying to fit and remove my watercooling setup.
