My First, er, mod

Hi Guys
I've boguht some Midnight Blue and Green Car spray paint off eBay.
I want to use them to paint the inside of my case.

What tips, advice, and walkthroughs have you got for spray painting the innards of a case?
Thanks.
And of course, (I'm doing this 2mora) I'll show you how it pans out.

Exactly what surface do you have inside your case?

Matt steel? Polished?

Well the 1st thing

you need to blow out all the dust bunnys

then take it all apart and i mean all, what you dont want to paint put it somewhere so NO paint gets on it ,then wipe it down with a DAMP CLOTH to make sure everything is smooth and clean

Make sure you put tape on the outside ,whole back of the tower so no paint get on the outside ( PSU , FAN ,motherboard and PCIslots ), there are parts of the case that cant come off so if you want to keep it the way it is tape it , look here and you see what i mean my top and bottom didnt come off take a look

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...7/DSC_0104.jpg

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...7/DSC_0105.jpg

ANTOTHER THING PAINT OUTSIDE ,i didnt and now my basement is HOT PINK lol

make sure its not HOT outside cause the paint will Bubble

the Small parts you want to paint do them 1st remember to spray atleast 12inches away from what your painting and go from left to right to get a even coat

hmmm did i forget anything ,yes i did DONT FORGET YOUR MASK when painting

Good luck

Roger - that is a fantastic peice of advice.
Top dollar! I look forward to tomorrow!
Danrok, it's steel! It's that light greay colour, so it's okay for painting.

Here we go. 2 Coats done so far.
Yes, I could have used a white undercoat thingy to achieve an even colour, but a sort of varied colour is how I like it...
First I had to spend ages cleaning off a motherboard sticker....grrr

Then I made my template of a eu.....actually, I want y'all to guess!

This was laid down and it was sprayed the pearlescent blue.

The other panel had the inside sprayed emerald metallic green.

Looks great. Make sure all is very dry before trying to reasemble. This is a common mistake. A few days is best...

I've bought some Polar White, which I will use to stencil the words "Eurofighter Typhoon" on the side beneath the silhouette.
Know what it is now!?

My mistake was painting over moving parts.
Like XRogerX said, make sure you remove everything.
I painted over some drive levers and when I used the levers, they either scratched the paint or there wasn't paint under one side.
I used a cool appliance paint that was almost like a lacquer.
It was very strong too.
Your side panel is looking great, keep us up to date with the pics.

I once lacquered a Triumph Gas tank, wonderful what 6 or eight coats looks like. One of these days when I have some cash I'm going to black Lacquer my Lian Li case.

Should result in a finish you can walk into....unless I blow it! LOL

Actually lacquer is very forgiving as you work.

P.S. Changed my mind Red, Red lacquer would be amazing!

P.S.S I have more than one case! Quick someone send me money! LOL

Dude, did you use that epoxy appliance paint.

That stuff sticks to everything. Especially the hair on your arms....lol

I've been using car paint. This is for a few very good reasons.
One, it's best for the metal I've got, mild steel.
Secondly, the range of colorus available is astronomical.
Thirdly, you can have things like pearlescent paint.
That silhouette is in pearlescent paint.

I ususlly use the same. Have a box of about 30 cans. I also use the Krylon and Rustolium brand paints. Works great..Sometimes hit them with some clear coat after. Great job BTW.
