Spraying CD/Floppy covers

hi, i just got this blinding black full tower case, i stuck everything in and looked and thought...i could do with making my CD and floppy covers black too....it spoils it....and someone told me i cant just spary plastic....so i have no idea on what to do...any one know where i can get info bout this? ive only found stuff about spraying the actual cases.

You could just lightly sand it and try to paint it. But i have heard if you use plastic primer it helps alot in trying to paint. Never used the stuff myself but have heard of it.

Ive spray painted floppy drives and my digital doc 5 w/o a primer.

Worked fine for me.

k guys, cheers.. now i have a black cd rom...looks pritty weird, exactly the same color as my case..its hard to see, i just sanded it down then sprayed it....

Now im working on getting a nice yellow bio hazard logo on the top of my case, anyone know where i can buy a template? its pritty difficult for me lol..i tryed

I have painted several plastic covers (DigiDoc5, CDs, FDDs etc) and you really don't need to use a primer.

However, it is essential that you lightly sand them, then clean them thoroughly so that the paint adheres properly. And don't rush the painting...do it several very light coats and allow plenty of time between coats to completely dry.

Finally you may want to use a clear finish so the little bumps and such won't scratch all your hard work up.

you have to unclip the cd cover

it come off of mine pritty easy, i had a job geetting the cd tray's front off though....it unclips but is real hard 2 get back on


I just sanded everythin down then sprayed it, look great

My CD tray comes off easily. Just open the drive, snap it up, and then un-clip the rest of the cover.

Now, what type of paint do you use? And what type of primer? I am looking for a nice Silver (large parts)/Black (buttons) combo when I do mine tomorrow

I just use regular Krylon Interior/Exterior paint and it has worked fine. :-D

I painted my system with that- came out pretty nice- just besure to use CLEARCOAT! Eventhough im going to strip my system down... and use my uncles paint shop to redo all my cases-
