Zalman CNPS 9500

This new Zalman is the best CPU Air cooling solution I have ever seen! My son wanted to go Prescott too. Since I run at 4300mhz daily with mine. But, he knew for the time being he would be air cooled. So he picked up a Zalman 9500 from ZZF for $59 Delivered! We were on Ebay looking to get a 540J like mine. The EO chips seem to run a little cooler. There was a 550 on there that had been pulled from a Gateway and it was obvious that it was going to go CHEAP!!! Now We figured it was an older DO steeper but damn the "Price was Right" So we bid and got it, Sure enough it was a "DO". Matt was a little nervous and bummed at the though of not making 4000mhz.
We mounted it all up on a Spare Epox 5PDAJ I hd on hand. Matt is selling his Northwood. There are no longer any Northwoods running in my home. Well he installed his processor the other night and began mounting the Zalman. I know cuz he called for me to hold things steady. Here is how it went.

He is running it at 4042mhz. He likes it right there.

This "DO" has been tamed.

What kind of video card is he running?

That is a PNY 6800GT. These systems will hold us til spring. They are fast and were very inexpensive to build. Oh yes and very cool too!

His processor is a 550 which is a 3.4ghz processor that is 200fsb x 17 = 3400
A 3.8 ghz processor has a multi of 19. 200X 19 = 3800 Although the the 3800 also has an adjustable multi.

very nice. i have an older zalman (very good cooler) but this one probably blows it away!

He was running a 3.0C with a Zalman 7000 HS/F. At stock speed it ran 1C warmer than this one at 4042. If you were in the market for a new one I would suggest you check this out. If you are running an older cooler that is doing the job you need then hey, that's good enough. If you want to Overclock far on air then this would be a good choice.

i wish i go tthat one i got the 7700 or watever it is...forget the # good but not AS good as the 9500 which is completely rediculous

Yes, this is incredible.

My opty 148 @ 2.8Ghz doesn't ever break a sweat. I still haven't seen it break 39C with hours of priming and the heat in my apartment blaring.



If I let the ambient temperature in the apartment fall to about 62F to 66F, I can idle at 18C.

you guys think im runnin too hot or i installed wrong..

i am currently @ 4.01 ghz on a 3.0 ghz stock processor but i idle at like 35 and load like 48-49 is that too hot for this cooler? or is it bc im overlocked so friggin much??

my motherboard is at 31-32 C almost all the time

my ambiant temperature in my room is like 22 C though which may be a little bit warm

Looks about normal compared to WZ's temps. AFAIK 22C is about room temperature, so all looks well!

yea ur right...as long as it not 60's and DEF not like 70 like i would have hit on the occation with stock heatsink, id gather im ok haha

has the boost in clockspeed help your benchmark scores?

actually yea i should update that...my 03 went up to almost 11,600 so and my 05 went up to like 4360

i dont think a small .2 ghz over where i was will make as much of a difference as me running much cooler then i was before
