WoW players learn value of Windows updates

Subscribers playing World of Warcraft on Windows machines continue to find their accounts stolen more than eleven months after hackers first began targeting them using a Trojan attack, according to posts on the game's official website.

This really doesn't amaze me. If players aren't prepared to install patches, then in my opinion, what else can they expect?

True. I mean, you could actually play the game. Installing patches that cause many new problems is much more fun that the game it's self...

Well, I better make sure I update windo... Oh that's right... I've always played WoW under Linux using Cedega, so I'm fine.

Yea, make sure you patch that... operating system of yours.

I flies that way too.

It seems like all we do is patch any more. Patch the OS, patch the game, patch the benchmark tool, patch the patch. And where does it get us? Right to the next patch.

Three Patches for the OS-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Gamer-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Microsoft where the Shadows lie.
One Patch to rule them all, One Patch to find them,
One Patch to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Microsoft where the Shadows lie.

Dude... I'm a level 70 Night Elf Holy Priest with full Hallowed Rainment, and I'd have half my Tier 4 gear if Blizzard hadn't bugged Karazhan.

To put it simply, the high ground just doesn't get any higher than that.

My account was never banned, and nobody I know that uses Cedega to play WoW had theirs banned either, despite near constant use. A few people, with some distros, with some versions of Cedega, under some circumstances had their accounts banned, but I've never spoken to anyone that had.
