About to buyy an 8K5A2+ or 8K9A

The 8K5A2+ get's real good reviews, but I am seeing so many problems here. I don't see much about the 8K9A, but maybe that's because it is newer?

I'm not really into overclocking everything, but I do expect to get the performance it was designed for out of it... with a minimum of hassle. ie: PC2700 actually running at 333!

Is that really so much to expect?

System specs will be as follows:

EPoX 8K5A2+
Athlon XP1800+ w/ Volcano 9
512mb Mushkin PC2700 - 2.5-3-3
Muse XL Sound
Supra 56k Modem
Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM ATA100
WD 10GB 5400RPM ATA33
TDK VeloCD 24/10/40
Generic 56X CDROM
Sparkle 300W PSU

Thanx for anything offered!

You see so many problems because this is where they come to get them fixed, Most of us now very few unresolved problems with the 8K5A2+

How ever from what I've read the newer 8K9A is the way I'd go today.

The 8k9a is not an overclocking board.

Personally id be going for the 8k9a2 or the very highly specified 8k9a2+

Plus the 8k9a2 and 8k9a2+ unlock a Tbread by default, so you will have a better chance of overclocking if you ever upgrade your CPU.

I can vouch for the 8k5a2+ motherboard. It has been rock solid from day one! I haven't had any problems with it at all, even when running killer FSB. I was able to go as high as 215mhz FSB with Corsair XMS2700. The addition of the onboard LAN and 6-USB 2.0 should get you lots of flexibility too.
