8RDA with 1 stick of RAM?!

I currently have a KR7A-RAID with a 1600XP running at 1.8GHZ. The RAM I use is a single stick of Samsung 512MB PC2700. I was looking forward to upgrading my motherboard to the 8RDA until I noticed I would only be able to run a single channel (64 bit) memory configuration. Does anyone else run the 8RDA with one stic? Doesnt this kill the whole purpose of nForce 2??

Without the 128 bit memory config, its pretty much a KT333!

Not looking forward to upgrading anymore

Feel free to comment!

Thanks

Dual channel on the nForce2 chipset offers only a small improvement over single channel. The reason is that data from the memory is bottlenecked at the CPU/SPP interface. Most benchmarks show somewhere in the range of 3-5% performance boost from dual channel. Most of the improvement comes from the chipset itself.

Welcome to AOA . The performance of the Nforce2 in single mode is still better than anything else out there at the moment . Also you could always save up and get another stick of samsung
I am very happy with my board now , its running @217fsb in dual mode thanks to the Vdd mod to up the voltage
I use 2x 256MB twinmos PC3200 ram as people have had the best results with it on the 8RDA+
Cheers
