A few complaints about 8RDA+

First off all I would like to say that from the performance and o/c point of view this is an excellent board.

But, there are at least two major things that disappointed me a lot:
1. My worst nightmare: problems installing ALPHA hsf.....some smart guy from the Epox engineers decided to put a capacitor (or how would you call it...) just 1 mm away from the upper left hole in the board. Result: it is impossible to install the hsf without breaking the damn thing!
Luckilly I have a friend (with the right tools) who helped me to cut a bit from the plastic washer that was pressing on the capacitor. But it was a lot of headache !!!!
2. Did Epox test how much are the nb and sb heating? You'll burn your finger if you put it on the sb more than 5 sec.....I had to put some memory heatsink on the sb and an orangeorb on the nb in order to have some decent temps on them.....

No 2 its not such a big issue, but it could have been easily avoided by Epox. The first one though it's very serious after my opinion.
Hope they will solve it with another rev. or at least in 8RDA2+....but my ALPHA washer is almost destroyed now..

PS: I would like to put an photo in my post but I don't know how (the file is on my hdd).

Do you have your cpu heatsink/fan plugged into the motherboard ? And is that a thermal probe about 1" to the right of the barcode?

where did you get that fan from? Would it fit over the NB's heatsink?

How'd you get the heatsink to stay on the SB?

Im thinking that might be my problem cause I cant get over 200 FSB...

I love the orange fans!! They look really nice Does the fan that you have on the nb do a good job of keeping it cool?

yeah I lost my first 8RDA to that... ended up using a sk7 the second time, worked out allot better; still would like to use the alpha but not going to risk it.

Hello Fonix and welcome to our forums. Regrettably for Bandwidth reasons we don't allow graphics in our members signatures.

You need Magic Light and EPoX rounded cables for the blue touch like mine ( and blue heat spreader on the memory)
