Question new to board w/8kha

stumbled across this forum at techimo. building first system, witha 8kha.meant to order the 8kha+,but,being in a hurry, cliked on wrong item at newegg. cant change order,so i ll use it. is this board stable, fairly easy to set up,are there many bugs?? or should i return it and exchange it for the 8kha+? i dont think i ll be overclocking(for a while, anyway) ,so that may be a factor in keeping the 8kha. thanks to all!

welcome to the forum!

the 8kha is a very good board. i run mine happily all day long. however, if you can at all, then i'd return it and go for the 8kha+.

the boards are pretty much the same, with excellent overclocking options, but there is the one major difference: the 8kha is based on the kt266 chipset, and the 8kha+ on the newer kt266a, which gives the 8kha+ much better memory bandwidth.

also, they both have a bug that seems to be in every board, and that no-one's found a work-around for yet. the 8kha's usb ports stop working over 138mhz fsb, but that won't affect you if you're overclocking. with the 8kha+, a lot of the boards won't do warm reboots. they'll hang after shutting down, and you have to press the reset key to start them again. imho, this is less of a pain than the usb thing, though.

in your position, and if it wasn't going to cost much, i'd return it and go for an 8kha+.
