8k9a3+ BIOS flash failed *urgent*

hi guys

i even tried flashing my bios 8k9a3+ with the k9a33313 - but it completely failed.
it backuped my old bios but there must some errors on my disk so it stopped on flashing the new one
now i get on boot "bios rom checksum rerror" it will demand a boot disk (which i have). so i boot on w95 dos (from disk) then insert the flash disk (a new one)
after typing "awdflash" it stopps on showing "programming flash memory" with that field beyond and "write ok, update, fail"

what can i do? cmos reset wont work.

Get in touch with your branch office - you will be able to purchase a new BIOS chip from them for a nominal charge.

so far - i changed thge bios chips 8k5a2+ & 8k9a3+ and i have flashed this bios. but i can not set my fsb to 133 or 166 - it stays at 100 and on boot this message popup:

warning! cpu has been changed
pls enter cpu ratio cmos setup and remember to save ...

i cant enter anything - if i set cpu clk to 166 next time it es reset to 133 but fsb stays at 100.

is there something more inside that bios chip than the biosdata i flashed?

Hello.

Late again - tired.

I tried almost everything till now. changed mobo, exchanged bios chip, emergency flash. last wont work too.

if anyone need help - pls read this

emergency flash - for all who dont know this.
- unplug any cabel from hdd & cdr - only one fdd (drv a) left
- remove agp/pci (any accellerated gpu) and insert ISA gpu
- insert already made boot(able)disk with bios & flashprog
- modify autoexec.bat to load automatically the flashprog
- boot from this disk

Get the bootdisk from here
http://www.bootdisk.com/
Caldera DrDOS

add to autoexec.bat
"AWDFLASH K9A33313.BIN OLD.BIN /PY /SY /E /F"
(for update)

or this
"AWDFLASH OLD.BIN /PY /SN /E"
(for restore)

insert disk and get bootet. you can do this without any gpu (blind).

Quote:
Q - My system crashed part way through flashing the bios and now it will not boot or POST. What can I do?

A - There is still a chance to save your bios if it is a bios containing a "boot block." You must follow these directions exactly. Disconnect everything but the floppy drive and use an ISA video card and a keyboard(no hard drives, no mouse, no expansion cards). Most modern bios contain a boot block feature. When they see nothing connected to the mobo but a floppy and ISA vid card, they skip all the other bios functions and boot to the floppy. You need an ISA, non-accellerated VGA video card and an emergency flash disk. See the section on bios flashing earlier in the FAQ for instructions on how to create it. Boot from the floppy and let it run.
weird - its late - sorry

hello - its me again

i put my bios chip on the postal way to epox germany.

The answered me:
Quote:
Sehr geehrter Kunde,

bitten senden Sie den defekten Biosbaustein mit der genauen
Boardbezeichnung an folgende Adresse:

ELITO-EPoX Computer GmbH
Nürnberger Strasse 41
91257 Pegnitz
Tel: 09241-991742
Tel: 09241-991771

means: put 1.44 EUR stamp on it (1.44 Euro Briefmarke)
Format is supposed DIN C5 because they pack the flashed chip in a antistatic box (or something like that).

costs total 10 + 2* 1.44 EUR ~13 EUR
time: 3 workdays (1 to send + 1 to work on + 1 send it back)

I did not found any other store here in middle germany (ruhrgebiet) which have a flash programmer (o thedevice is not available for a longer period: http://www.luna-systems.de/)

A "do it sourself" prommer can be found here:
http://batronix.com/elektronik/e-shop.shtml
- Batronix EEprom Brenner 3.3:
-- 37.20 Euro (+ 8.80 EUR Hebelfassung ELK632) do it yourself
-- PLCC32-DIP32 Adapter 15 EUR
-- +Porto & postal package
Additional "Prog-Studio Software" 25 EUR not commercial (50 bugs commercial)

Total ~100 bugs to flash PLCC32. Must be worth here because i think that i am not the only lamer with a crashed bios in this region. ;p

HTH

As far as eeprom programmers go though - those are very poor units - you wouldn't be able to flash much other than ATMEL chips with them!

Allsorts from SST to EON to Winbond to ATMEL to Hynix to Hyundai to MX to Intel.

What I'm trying to get at is that a cheap gang programmer will not get you very far, or very quickly. We don't make money from burning BIOS, we do probably in fact make a loss, but offer it as a service. Note that each mainboard will only run with certain BIOS chip types due to the utilistation of LPC, LIO or other bus etc. - there is a lot more to go at than just burning data to a chip.

NForce 2 SOIC for example is much different to that used on say i845PE.

ok.

the point from my side is that we don't have any p.o.p. with the ability in flashing bios. i also had no reply on another board to that question.

maybe it is not the best prommer - the bigger one cost about 320 EUR so that is no opportunity to start with

Hello ET

Today (friday) came me new flashed bios chip back - works excellent. But WinXP wanted to install some new (old) drivers - my stick, my cam (both USB) had to recognize again.
