Life is always worth living, darlin'. You just have to make it that way.

And if you're poor, how can you expect to buy all sorts of badass computer hardware?! Money may be the root of all evil, but it sure is fun!

fan problems

One bit of advise I will give you on the CPU fan and it will also answer one of your questions not yet answered.
If your fan fails and locks up or for that matter slows to a crawl, the question was, do I unplug it or leave it connected>
In a case such as this, always unplug the fan from the mobo header until it is replaced or repaired. A stalled fan can draw excessive current and create mucho problems.
A few out there think it is necessary for the board to see a signal from the RPM sensor at that fan connector to work right. That is wrong. As an example. In my system, I have 10 total fans. Not one of them is connected to the board as I choose to run them directly to the PSU and monitor their activity in other ways. Mike

That is a good idea Mike as that frees up power from the mainboard which ultimatley adds to board stability.
