GF2 mX400 not detected

I've been trying to fix my comp 4 a while now......to make sure that my gc was not causing the probs I used a TNT2 to test and now I'm trying to use my GF2 (which worked perfectly prior to the TNT2) and it won't let me - it displays if I do a jumper cmos reset (leave it in the reset position) but other than that its doesn't output a signal.???? I can't wait till I get my ti4400!!!

Any ideas what 2 do?

First thing I would do with this happening, would be to pull out the graphics card, and place the CMOS on the reset jumper, leave it that way for at least 15 mins. With the power off, but AC cord still in the back of the PS. Seems like your bios is being picky with your video cards, which is very common.

For instance, a friend of mine bought a new ATI video card for his computer a few weeks back, and I worked on getting it to work for ages, until I finally resorted to flashing the bios to the most recent version. After that, it worked just fine.

Best of luck..

If it is a 3.3v card, don't labour your efforts as you could kill the mainboard outside of warranty.

And please do remove your graphical signature as per the rules of the forum!!!

It is my understanding the all GF2 cards are 1.5V.

They're not - I could show you at least 50 cards or probably 100 that are 3.3v if I looked for them.

I had a not running GeForce2 Pro and 8rda3+ combination while a GF2 Mx400 I took from my comp at work ran flawlessly. So had to put in an old Voodoo3 2000 PCI while waiting for a Radeon 9600 Pro. But it was worth it

The GF2 MX400 should work though, especially on todays mobo's. I was using my GF2 Mx400 for two weeks flawlessly at one point since my 8RGA+ didn't like my ram for the onboard IGP video. Had to wait a few weeks until I got an 9800 Pro card. Weird why his isn't being detected.

Wow, didn't know that. I guess I got lucky when I randomly picked different brands of GF2 Pro, GF2 MX, GF2 MX200 and MX400 cards and managed to get all 1.5V compliant cards.

What was wrong with the ram? I know that the IGP boards have trouble when running the DDR at anything over 333Mhz, but I didn't realize there was a compatibility issue to boot.

There is a major DDR compatibility issue, but only for 8RGA+ boards, that utilize the onboard IGP for video. Basically your ram either gives you a ton of artifacts+random reboots, or it works perfectly. DDR with winbond chips give no problems at all. DDR with Twinmos branded chips give a lot of problems. A lot of new users are falling into this problem lately.
