8RGA+ USB2 and firewire problem

Hi Friends!

Need some help here.

I have a 8RGA+ but didnt notice a problem till now.

I just got a mobile harddrive case that connects either with a usb2 or firewire connection to the pc.

So far i can only get it to work as a usb 1.1.

This is what ive tried/checked:

Usb2 drivers installed
firewire installed
Both the above enabled in bios.

The same type of box works on at least 3 other systems (non epox)

Also weird is that no matter where i plug it in (usb) either onboard or extra usb panel it gives me a error message stating: "you have plugged in a high speed device into a slow port" or something like that nad shows me the 6 empty enhanced ports. (this in winxp).

I tried the same in my win2k partition but no go there either.

In the fire wire connection it detects the drive being connected but it doesnt show up with the other drives at all.

Any clues ???

BTW im using the latest bios and 2.03 chipset drivers

Thanks for the quick reply bro.

Are these drivers from leadtek ??

Cause i just tried those and they gave me 2 sets of controllers/hubs (and yes i uninstalled usb first).

Weird huh ?

I gonna try out another set of chipset drivers now(maybe the original set from CD (1.xx).

yes they're leadtek's. you want two sets of controllers - one for usb2 and one for usb1.1

Well i solved it but your not gonna like what i found...hehehe

It was the damn jumper on the P.O.S WD hdd.

I had tried Slave,Master and finaly cable select but it finaly worked on the unmapped pair of pins on the far left.

Stuff like this really pisses me off....thats why this is the last WD drive im ever gonna buy.

For now on MAXTOR baby !!!

Anyway thanks for your help and time buddy

digging out a barely old thread
i also bought myself an external usb2.0/firewire drive. usb worked at once, but i can't get it working with firewire! if i connect it, simply nothing happens.
right now i'm using 09/30/2003 bios - i think i'm gonna update it
btw: how are your transfer rates?
