SLK-900U and Zalman NB on an 8RDA3+?

Does anybody have both a SLK-900U and Zalman NB heatsink together on an 8RDA3+? I've heard that the fins on an SLK-900U are too big for the Zalman NB heatsink to fit.

I was thinking of getting the SLK-900U but I have a Zalman NB heatsink "epoxy'd " to my northbridge.

The epox has a more room than most other mobos. But you'll have to file/pull off some the pins on the Zalman.

edit: the attachment shows the 8rda+..i dunno if it'll be the same for rda3+

Thanks for the pic. That really helps answer my question.

Drisler.

Am I seeing things or is that Zalman glued on top of the stock heatsink? I see a lot of shiny metel underneath the Zalman and the Zalman doesn't look to be pinned to the MB.

Also, are the fins on your SLK-800 the same dimensoins as a SLK-900?

Thanks,
y2kpm

Not only did I get a zalman on my 8rda+ with my slk900u, I managed to screw a fan on top of the zalman too while I was at it. I had to ben about 6 pins on the zalman (it is oriented the same way as drislers) and cut off a corner of the shroud on a 40x40x10 mm fan. There is just enough room for it all to fit so now I have a lot of air blowing through my zalman for my NB.

COOL! Now that's what I wanted to hear. I too was thinking of putting a fan on the Zalman. Although I'll probably put a 92mm Panaflow on the SLK-900U which may be enough to cool the Zalman too.

Thanks.

It really does look like the zalman is ontop of the stock heatsink.. I'm not sure. I'll the ask the guy I got it from!

Thanks for the pic. Glad to see you didn't waist a good Zalman trying to cool a stock Epox NB sink!
