8RDA3+ and Barton 2500+

I just got a Barton 2500+ AQXEA 0330RPMW!
Everything worked OK at default speeds but the system is freezing at Prime95(aftes 4-5sec) and at TOAST(at less than a sec).
I increased the Vcore up to 1.9V to get it stable(AT DEFAULT SPEED 11x166)
Now i am running at 10.5x225 with 1.875Vcore(didn't try less Vcore or higher Mhz), and i am PERFECTLY running Prime95 right now!

Can someone tell me what's the problem??????????

P.S: On 8RDA3+(latest BIOS), 2x80GB 8MBcache S-ATA (raid0) Seagate HDD, fresh WinXP SP/2 , 2x256MB Kingston(samsung chips CL3) DDR400 sync 3-3-3-9!

I forgot to say that the CPU was BOXed! (AMD BOX with AMD cooler etc)

not sure me a friend both have same mobo and chip .
and both crash randomly with vcore 1.75 , it runs a 60C under load .
1.9 wont do the cpu a lot good right ?

and are epox going to sort this problem out ?

now i am running at 11x225(2480Mhz) with 1.85Vcore ROCK STABLE! My problem is that i CAN't run it at default Mhz at 1.65-1.8Vcore!
Isn't that exremely strange? I had almost the same problem with my old TbredB 1700+ DLT3C and this motherboard, but i was perfectly running my Palomino 2100+ yesterday!
I think it's not the CPU problem but EPOX 8RDA3+ problem!

BTW: i have ALL latest drivers and BIOS's!

I couldn't run this 1800+ at default on my 8rda3+ aswell. It's like it's begging to be overclocked. :erm:

I too have the same problem with my XP1800 with my 8RDA3+, but I will NOT RMA it because it's doing what I want it too at OC speeds, and also is modified. However, at complete stock settings, it will crash booting into XP, but as soon as I get to 1.85v Vcore, everything is fine. Anything less than 1.85v Vcore results in crashes at stock settings. Although this is not a problem to most who overclock, I can't help but wonder how mcuh hotter my CPU is than it needs to be?!?!?

This is a problem that numerous 8RDA3+ users have mentioned, but not one Epox Tech has commented on that I have seen. PLEASE ET, please talk to us about it!

Not everyone OC's their machine, so any user who is using STOCK settings, may be having problems that end in an RMA, which, as we know, drives up prices. I accept that not every 8RDA3+ may have this problem by the way, so my comments are not aimed at tarnishing the 8RDA3+ boards, or Epox themselves.

To verify it was MY board, I tried two different PSU's, two CPU's, with minimum components installed.

Please ET........

Blackmyst

What bothers me more is that any vcore over 1.7V = crash or freeze.

Either that or this cpu just refuses to work at a higher vcore or more mhz.

HEHE! My problem is that any Vcore less than 1.75V=crash or freeze!

I now got it stable at 228x11(2508Mhz) with 1.87V!

Thats why I got rid of my 8RDA3+

Low Vcore = unstable system

high Vcore = OVP kicks in and turns machine off

I just couldn't win!

I don't expect ET or Holst will comment, they're hardly ever here & they only seem support new boards for a week or so.

Same problem here, my 8RDA3+ will not work stabily/ some times not at all at defualt settings with default voltages, it must be over volted to work at defualt. It doesnt clock that badly when you get the juice going though, well until it starts turning its self off through over current protection ...
