Just had an interesting idea...

As I was changing the Vcore on my 8K7A+, I was reaching inside the case to move the jumpers around. As I was struggling, I started thinking there's got to be a better way to do this. So here's what I was thinking.

have a wire attached to each pin setup and have a switch attached to each set of wires where a jumper would normally go. Of course only 1 of the switches could be closed at a time, but this way you mount the switch setup on the outside of the case and no more reaching inside the case to change voltage settings.

what do u guys think? anyone thought of this before?

DIP switches! thats all they are... you could take it further and actually solder switches to the motherboard if you have the guts

I figured that was what dipswitches were, but didn't even think about that before I posted lol . My idea is a little different tho, the dipswitches would be on the outside of the case so you wouldn't even have to open the case.

Unfortunately I don't have the guts to solder switches to the mobo, but....

I do have those things required to make 3 pin connectors for case fans. the connector housing and those little individual wire things... thats what I would use to connect to each individual wire, and have the wiring go to the front of the case, where the switches will be located. Feels like a good idea, if I get the time/bravery, I just might try it.

Thank goodness newer boards have gone the jumperless route!!

With using ABit boards for so long and now the jumperless Epox 8KHA+, the last time I had to think about issues like this was with my AMD P75 133 setup!

Death to the Jumpers/Dipswitches, that's what I say!

I don't mind jumpers one bit myself . . . I guess when you have been setting them as long as I have you get used to it . . . .

Sounds like a good and very workable idea to me. Just make sure the positioning of your switches aren't such as to be easily bumped.

lol, I'll keep that in mind. It would be nice to be able to buy a dip switch module with connectors and just hook it up to that.
