Question My 8KHA+ just died

Last week, I began hearing a static in the speakers like two wires touching each other, when this happened the system would lock up solid.

I removed the side panel of the case and removed everything. Reseated everything, did not find anything wrong. I turned on the system and it booted up just fine, After being up for a few minutes, the same thing happened, and locked up.

I pressed the reset button, the diagnositc stoped at C1. I worked on the Epox for a couple of hours and could not get past the C1.

I removed the Epox and replaced it with the ASUS A7M266 that I have had since 3/01. I did not have any problems in getting the A7M up and running. But I never would have thought that the speed between these 2 mobo's would be so much.

After using the A7M for a couple of days. I ordered a Shuttle AK35GT-R. It arrived the next day. I installed it, formatted the OS part, restored the OS with a fresh backup of the OS, including ann drivers for the Epox board and vid card. Booted up the Shuttle and it did install a couple of PCI drivers, but never asked for any disks.

This Shuttle is quite impressive. About equal to the Epox in speed. Has never crashed yet. Ran 3dMark2001se, not as good as the Epox, but the Shuttle is brand new and never has any burn proceedures done.

I am having a hard time in deciding on which to keep as a server system board. Epox or Shuttle,

The replacement Epox will be here next week.

What do you think? Not being bias on your comments just a good decision as to which mobo to keep.

The Shuttle does have built in Raid and is a very good version of Raid.

Thats a shame...your not having much luck with this board.

Isnt this your second RMA

Im not sure which is the better board.

There probably isnt an awfull lot between them.

Try tweaking the shuttle up and see if I can match the 8kha.

What will you be doing with the board you dont keep ?

I wouldt want to swap my Epox for the shuttle myself...although its allways fun to play with diferent boards.

Id probably keep both..a spare system is allways usefull.....especially if your Epox keep dying
