Question

#1, Your R8500 is not incompatable with any mobo.
It was just a few months ago everyone was saying this about the 8KHA+ mobo. True there are some issues with the 8KHA+, and these same issues may apply to your mobo and vid card. These two mobo's are very simular in design. Only the chipset is of a different configuration.

I might ask, did you purge the registry from all nVidia entries? This is the most common cause of any vid card not working when replacing a vid card.
After removing all remnants of the old drivers then install the proper drivers for your new card. You are not specifing which OS you are using. I might suggest this::

W9x=9021
W2k=6043
WXP=6052

All these are the newer drivers for all Radeon vid cards. They all have enhanced OGL properties writen in them. This will mean that all OGL games you want to play, will be much better than previous versions of drivers.

If you are not familiar with the proceedure of removing all entries from the registry. go to Rage3d.com and there is a sticky on there stating the proper method of removing old drivers from your OS.

This is the most problematic thing that people overlook.
Just going to add/remove programs and removing an item. Does not remove anything from the registry.
Hope you get your problem resolved.

I get what you mean, I formatted my c drive and reinstall Win XP and the problem persists right after I installed the ATI offical Drivers. So the possibly of having old Nvidia entries are ruled out.
I'm suspecting the incompatibility between the card and the mobo

Its the drivers.

Use the drivers Bobby recomends, if they wont work try some others.

Try diferent chipset drivers.

If it still wont work try the card in another board, maybee you have a bad one.

I just fitted an 8K3A+ to my system and my Radeon 8500 works fine with it.

I'm using the 7191 drivers that came with the Radeon (Win 98SE).
