Question USB2 Networking on 8k5a2+

Hey,

A friend of mine had an MSI motherboard which allowed him to network (LAN) via the USB1.1 ports at 11Mb/s.

Is it possible to network (LAN) via the USB2 ports on the 8k5a2+ board? If so, HOW?! I cant find information on it anywhere. Which cable do I need?

Thanks
- TheWanted_

The 8k5a2+ has a built in 10/100 lan that works great on my network.

Does the integrated NIC use a Realtek chip? My whole network uses Realtek based cards, I love 'em, they can handle whatever I throw at 'em bus speed wise.

Erm, yes I realise that there is an onboard network card on this board but USB2 runs at 480mbit/s as opposed to 100mbit/s for the onboard LAN.

I'm not looking for alternatives to my question, I know that USB networking is possible and I want to know how to do it.

Thanks.

Hmmm, well I know that the MSI Turbo2 board let my friend network via his USB ports ... it MUST be possible to do it on my 8k5a2+ board .... come on, think about how cool 480mbit/sec would be! *cough*epox tech guy help me*cough*

Actually, that was a feature unique to MSI....as explained by MSI at AMD Tech Tour...

Firewire networking, on the other hand...

Just go to MSI's site and search for "PC2PC"...

Looks like PC2PC only supports USB 1 and speeds up to 8.6mbit/sec ... Now I feel silly :P Oh well .... was a cool idea anyway.
