Looking for hack and slash type games.

Does anybody know of pc hack and slash type games? im preferably looking for something that can run around with a kool sword and cut thing's up in a stylish fashion

It's kind of hard to explain but basically something where i run around and cut thing's up with a sword but not some generic sword action i mean like flips and twists and all sorts of fancy moves

I have heard bits and piece about it but just the name alone really turns me off it. Im looking for something more modern or traditional setting like uhh those old playstation samurai type one's where you just run around levels slashing up enemy's heh.

i've got a "dos"sy game. i can't remember the name, i'll have to dig it out. it's a mixture of hockey, skateboarding, and killing. You play hockey in a half pipey thing kinda like a pill capsule cut length wise and you can kill the other team players with your stick/sword and you can do flips and stuff.

You're looking for Devil May Cry for PS2 (1, 2 or 3 it's up to you.) What you described is exactly like how these games play. You should be able to get at least 1 and 2 for the reduced $20 price.

you can find some of the best hack and slash instant fix games on the consoles, not so much on the pc...sadly.

the only hack and slash that comes to mind, but set in the fantasy realm, would be Lord of the Rings - Return of the King by EA.

(racks my head for other titles)

Have you tried "Severance, Sword of darkness". A very violent game in fantasy setting. Great melee combat. It came in '98 or something like that, but doesn´t look to crappy. However it just offers hacking and slashing - nothing else.

Hmmm well then i might just have to get round to programming my current game of choice some time. My game programming skills however need some brushing up and man does 3d go beyond my scope of knowledge for now lol.

EDIT: Wow that offset engine sounds really nice i can't wait to see what they accomplish with it.

Oh yeah, Severence is awesome.

Hack someone's arm off, then beat them with it.

I remember an arcade game like that back in my younger days, it was like mortal kombat but with dwarves and all sorts of weird crap.

If you chopped their head off it was an instant kill but if you cut an arm or two of you could pick it up and beat them to death with it, good game.

For hacking, you could always try CS.

Dungeon Siege 1 or 2 is a great mindless hack and slash with pretty weapons and armor.

Yeah yeah, old resurrection (sue me.. actually don't O.o)

Might I suggest Guild Wars for example or .. Diablo 2? Diablo 2 is decent and can actually get you pretty hooked for a long time. Ended up playing lord... about 2.5 years before I finally got off of it. You have swords, magic, bows, etc to kill. 6 character classes to choose from as well.

Guild wars is mainly a team based game but can be your hack\slash alternative if you like fighting up close and personal.

Both have free online play
