How *not* to make a content update in a mmorp ... (anyone play eve online?)
One can only guess why the autoupdater to the latest content patch for the islandic (hehe) MMORPG EVE online would want to touch anyones boot.ini. And corrupt it. (well ... instead of overwriting the games "boot.ini" it ... went for the windows one ... slight typo with consequences)

More here.

It must be an interesting feeling to get an ingame message "This is the dev team ... DONT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER" hehe :)

On a sidenote - the problems only affect a few users, and not users of Vista so ... I guess we now have one (1) situation which talks to vistas favour over older windows versions:p

Ouch, that's gonna sting some people. Thankfully, i am on Vista, and i don't play EVE, but i do play WoW and it's one of the easiest for their dev team to update (most of it is built on Lua, or a modified version of Lua).

It went straight for the Windows Boot.ini? That deserves the official Scott stamp of "OWNED!". =P
