ATA->SATA->RAID ...and why not :-)

Hi all ,

Well after delousing my system ( getting algae out of my watercooling setup ) I finally setup up my 2 new Seagate Barracuda V SATA drives. 2x 80gb . A fresh install of windows gave me a fright..it didnt recognise my new drives till I installed the " 3rd party " SATA driver via floppy. And then plain sailing.

(SiSoft Sandra 2004 )

Old benchmark 30.135 MB/sec ( one 80gb via Sata )
New Benchmark 70.000 MB/sec ( 2x80gb , Sata , Raid 0 )

Impressive ! Having said that , the first bench was with a system I hadnt defragged in a while , plus it had more files on it , I`m not sure if the benches take that into comparison.

Now for the real world ..to see how that bench equates into smoother system running ...

Now that's a performance jump! Maybe I should reconsider SATA.

benched again ..

Hi ,

I ran the bench again with the same result ..70MB/sec. I`ve noticed game levels load much faster, and startup/shutdown too . And as yet ..no fungus in the watercooling :-)
