Exclamation bootfiles problam winxp?

i have started to get alot of problams with my bootfiles i play games most days like C&C games which 1 game could take some time do any one know why this could be going like this. i can leave the pc for about 2-3 weeks with out doing any scandisk or defag but then sometimes the pc will not start up like friday morning got a blue screen crash was not happy (did not even start up in safe mode) started a new instille of winxp up and running in 3 hours all downloads and that. it could not be sata drivers as i did not have problams with my last hd 74gig rators any help?? i have started to defag every time i turns off the pc don't take long. i don't really wanna buy a new hd as i am saveing for my new pci-e card 6800gt ultra or 850xl mmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!

if you get a blue screen (BSOD), you need to make notes ...

first, disable automatic reboot (My Computer/Properties/System properties/Advanced/Startup&Recovery/Automatically Reboot [remove tick])

If you then have a BSOD and you take note, we could really help you.
As it stands now, we haven't much to go on.

Try running a 'chkdsk /r c:' (without hyphens) in a DOSbox (run: cmd) and see what that reports at the end (you must keep following its progress because the final message disappears rather quickly) ...

Otherwise, download the HDD maker's diagnostic and make the bootable floppy or CD and boot up; run the full diag (overnight) and see what that tells you.

You could run Memtest86 too.

Could be a PSU problem too. Check the voltages and temps through MBM ...

i think it could be the harddrive as is reports the ntldr or the ntdetect are damaged or corrupt i have started to defrag every time i turn off the pc it'been ok for a few weeks now.

i have got a wd raptor74gig 10,000rpm whats still under warranty but i have tryed to get the rma number from there diagnostic program so i can send it to them but it will not run the test can anyone help me out??

what happens; why doesn't it run the test ?
what did you do, what could you do up to now ?

have you tried one of these ?
