Talking P4 dualcore w/ hyperthreading + 4 6800U in SLi = Gigabyte??!??

Well, let it be known....LoL....SLi is coming at you hard, in 4-card-SLi ...and rumour has it that maybe 8 GPu's, if using 4 of the new 6800U dualchip vidcards from gigabyte....

Remember when i said processing explosion???

Here's a pic, and some info form TOm's Hardware.

Quote:
About half a year ago, we learned that Gigabyte was working on a graphics card that integrates two GeForce 6600GT graphics chips. While we were impressed with the out-of-the-box approach from Gigabyte, there was of course the question, whether two of those cards could be combined for a total of four graphics chips.
At the time, we were told that the firm was working on such a solution. It appears that the company has made significant progress...

I hope they can get the drivers right to use all that power.

Speaking of power what would that be? About 350W on the 12V lines for a 4 gpu system?
You could melt the ice caps with that kind of heat, especially with an average 70% efficiency psu putting out ~180W of heat it's self

Your point, graham? Remember what i said about SLi in it's second generation?

ASUS has eliminated teh SLi bridge on the motherboard. Gigabyte has the multi-gpu cards, including with 512mb of usable ram per chip...

4 GPU's, and 4 effective cores, thatnks to hyperthreading, throw in 2 linked-up phys-x cards, and you got one stomping high-definition videogame machine. possibly with on-board azalia audio.

No longer does the bottom of the windowed case need to be bare...now those empty slots will be filled...and honestly, if, right now, you have the money for the full set-up, is watercooling the entire thing in 3 seperate loops gonna matter to you?

I want this board...

It would make for an excellent build experience...i'll say that much...can you imagine the wiring and the..... .....tubing? LoL

Question please: Do dual Vidcards sport different kinds of plugs to be supplied with their own power directly from the PSU? Do some dual Vidcards have "Molex" four pin sockets, and others an in-line six(?) pin socket? Thank you for your time!

I wouldn't jump right away, the redundancy wont matter until things are made to run using both processing powers at the same time anyways. Still a good find and something very bright for us performance junkies.

Pity GigaBytes are typically bad overclockers.
