new psu fan speed

Ive just bought and installed a new psu (enermax noisetaker 370w.)
ive attached a pic of the usdm screen, on the power fan it says (PRM) instead of(RPM).
wot does prm mean and are the fans on my psu spinning very slowly?

That looks like a mistake to me, I might be wrong though. The noisetaker doesn't spin it's fans too slowly at low wattages, but it also doesn't ramp the speed up as much as most other units at higher levels.

Have you got the fan controller on it set to low? It's possible to get the fans even slower by moving the temp sensor inside it away from the heatsink, and usually perfectly safe, but it means opening it.

at the moment the adjustable dial is at maximum.
if i turn the dial to minimum it drops to 0000 on usdm?
so whats with thr prm on the power fan bit? is it just a mistake on the program?

thats because the fan is spinning too slow for the software to detect, as the heat rises the will spin faster and be detected, the threshold is about 1200rpm usually

Don't worry they are still spinning, and the noisetaker can handle the low air flow just fine

the PRM is just a typo ...

the Enermax Noisetaker (and many others) vary the speed of their fans according to their inner temp ...

Indeed, many apps and even BIOSes report 0000 RPM when fans are doing less than 1500 RPM (I believe it is) ...

;-)
