Unhappy Broke my new Logitech G5

It was a great mouse for the few weeks that it lasted, until it fell off the pad and hit the floor. Seems that the laser is borked now - any ideas on how to fix it?

This thing did not come cheaply, so I wonder if Logitech would warranty it? (yeah RIGHT!)

Thanks. If I can't find a home-brew fix, maybe I'll call or e-mail them.

UPDATE:

Just got off the phone w. Logitech and lo & behold!, they're going to send me a new G5 in the mail & no freight charge. Didn't have to return the borked unit or show proof-of-purchase. They had my info on file.

Great customer service...imagine that!

Yeah, when it comes to RMA's at work. I love Logitech and Kodak. Kodak know their products are crap and take RMA's no matter the reason. And Logitech have brilliant customer service.

LMAO!

Yeah, it's great news. I thought I was gonna be stuck with this POS old ball mouse for awhile. It's barely OK for desktop tasks, but in games like UT2k4 I was getting my giblets handed to me. Forgeddaboudit!

I had to toss out the kudos where they're due tho'. Never had to deal with Logitech's CS 'cuz I've never had a problem with their stuff before.

Here's to 'No More Suicide Moice'.

I have an MX1000 and it's survived at least a half a dozen 3-foot falls. My mousepad is on a slope, and if I leave the mouse at an angle, it will fall off the side.

I guess Murphy's Law must have caught up with me? Or maybe this G5 landed 'just right' on its one leap to mouse purgat'ry.

Actually, I was surprised that that's all it took to knock it silly. I did have it loaded with over 1/2 of the weight amount possible, (4 of the 1.7 weights + 4 of the 4.5's).

I think you were just unlucky

Hopefully the new one does everything properly for you, and if it falls that it clings to life

Well, the mousepad is kind of hanging off of the side and....yeah, it's crazy. I've gotten better at leaving the mouse upright so it won't fall off, though.

You don't want to see his mouse hanging itself by its cord right (?)...it could get ugly.

Well, It's a wireless mouse, so when it falls, it falls. I'll take a picture tomorrow. I won't clean it up, because that would be lying about what it's really like.

I have the same mouse, and havve dropped it on the hard tiled floor under my desk a few times. I have mine loaded with all the weight. Good to know you got good service on yours, in case something were to happen to mine!

I have the logitech G7 (the cartridge battery one), which is absolutely brilliant at lans... Not only is it great for gaming, but when you get together at a lan with a few other G7 owners, you can have cartridge changing contests.

It ejects the used cartridge on the ground, then you stick the new one in, and slap it from the bottom, just like a box loading automatic / semi-automatic pistol, so you can race eachother reloading.

Then theres the fact that its half the weight of my old MX700, and tracks brilliantly.

As far as Logitech goes, buy with confidence. Logitech is a Swiss company, and anyone who's had the pleasure of dealing with them before would know what that stands for.

When my Tag Heuer F1 had a clicking sound in the bezel movement, they had a courier at my front door within the day to take the watch back, and left me with a basic model F1 in the interim. That's what the Swiss are all about.

Suffice to say, when your Hyundai monitor fails, don't expect to see the Korean's leaping into action.
