330w psu, he's kidding right, yes my system only hits 250w under full load on a 450w psu, but still 330w will be cutting it fine.

He's joking right, that system is a complete rip off for one thing it wouldn't even start up!

I think there's quite a difference between the XT you have, and the GT. To the tune of about 70w to 90w.

That PSU probably would do it, at stock speeds, but he has specified it for overclocking. So, he's certainly pushing his luck there!

I would always build a system with plenty of headroom on the PSU. Avoids the owner from having to buy a new PSU when they upgrade. Something bigger doesn't cost that much more.

Omg, i built my whole system for about £450 and it'd probably still own that into the ground. I think i'll make my own guide for us all (and not strictly AMD or NVidia).

Yarr, 330 Watts. Dunno if M'sieur Ou actually builds a machine from the components he recommends. 330W was obsolete two years ago.

And the rest. When A64's came into the picture and a gig of ram became common, that's when it became obsolete. So i make it about 4 years.

Sorry? I can't help but laugh Scott because either you haven't read the article, or I'm about to make an arse of myself.

His CPU is a Dual Core Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. In other words, it would disect your or my cpu, slowly eat each little peice and lick it's lips in glee.
It also has 1GB of DDR2 Ram. The PSU is admittedly slightly dodgy but not a problem in my view.
And his video card would hardly be eaten alive by yours.

I beg, forgive me if I've got this completely wrong but I couldn't beleive what you've said???? It makes no sense!

Happy Christmas to you all!

My system draws 350W at full load. measured at the input of the PSU, output is around 280W!!!
Opteron 165 2,8GHz@1,5V, x1950Pro, 6x hdd,...
but I don't think a 330W PSU can handle my PC, because CPU and graphics card needs much juice from the 12V rail

Other than the CPU, i would not buy any of the parts he recommends, and did you look at the specs on the PSU he put on there....the 2 +12 rails have amp ratings of 8amps and 12 amps....not nearly enough for what that system really needs to work. I think that guy is on Crack.
