an optional overclocked 2.66 MHz Core 2 Duo processor
Hehe

Apart from that I dont really see the point of an overclocked gaming laptop, I would prefer just to have a well built SFF box.

Well I think the point is that you can't get that anywhere else. This would be quite simply the fastest gaming laptop available as far as processing power is concerned. It is also one of the few with an available X1900 mobility, which unless you want an SLI notebook (the definition of excess imho), is probably the fastest graphics solution available. Also I am pretty sure that all the SLI systems are AMD based platforms.

That said, this is obviously excess, you could build a much faster gaming pc (8800GTX, C2D at 3.5ghz) with 17" monitor for like $2300 instead of close to $5,000. But this is probably the most powerful laptop on the market for those who LAN or just have too much money, or both. Core2 Duo, X1900, 2 hard drives in RAID0, this is a ridiculously powerful laptop. I would really love to see how effective the cooling system is. My friend had an Alienware system with a P4 3.4 and a 9700 mobility and it had many heating issues.

The $1300 model looks very good for gaming, and I don't think that price is excessive for a gaming laptop. If you want mobile gaming, it looks like good value.

It's alienware, which as we all know, are ownde by Dell. It does look like a good deal though since you generally can't build your own laptop.
