Be still, my beating heart. They've decided to give us back what was ours all along.

Well, sort of.

Only because they have to!
Has anyone else noticed the decided lack of intelligence driving this whole area of computing? What have they spent to date to prevent a loss no one is sure actually does hurt those "Tiring to protect themselves"

The whole thing seems easier for me to understand when I remember that the rights they are trying to protect are "Just made up rights"

Bought from governments without the consent of the people... when "The People" don't like you, sooner or later that's going to hurt.

They are hurting, that's the only reason they would change. imho

I just read "The plan". Idiots! These guys are going to get their asses handed to them by pirates. Pirates that unlike themselves ARE supported by popular opion.

"That's alright mama
you don't have to like it
the more you try to lock it up
the more it's going to stick to you"

(This time I'm going to say that's from "Credence Clearwater Revival",
I think I've mis-attributed this quota to "Buffalo Springfield" in the past.)

Or...
"Repression breeds rebellion."

At some point I may have to revise my stand against all pirating. When is the letter of the law a violation of the law?

When the law is written by lawyers at the behest of the rich and to the determent of the people.

It is the same question that must be faced when addressing revolution.
When does the over throwing of the government become justified?

When Government no longer supports aspirations of it's people.

I will not pirate, period. But my reason for this is that there by I may say,

to take back what is your birth right is not piracy.

But the place to regain our rights isn't in software, but in a government that no longer supports our deepest aspirations, but rather seeks to harvest of our children for delivery to an unwholesome market place.

All this will end as soon as we want it to as a people. As soon as we will give up the imagined advantages of "just going along".

We will each have to decide I think, if and where we will make our revolution, how we will seek to bring about change...
We dare not simply follow our own interests. Revolution MUST be founded upon the real needs of the people, which a corrupt government no longer serves.

Slow news day for someone? Managed copies became part of the spec for Blu-ray back in 2005. (See here). Both Blu-ray and HD DVD have had this feature for a while. I'm not sure why this is suddenly become news?
