Floppy Drivers

I am thinking about buying a new floppy drive from Newegg. They are all OEM, and I do not see where any of them come with drivers. Will I have to get the driver from the manufacturer? Are they compatable with XP? Thanks for any help.

for standard IDE floppy drives you shouldnt need any drivers at all (all inlcuded on OS- PnP) all you should have to do is: plug it in(often the toughest part ), turn on the computer, make sure the bios doesnt have the floppy disabled (if you are replacing a FDD, skip this), watch as the OS installs the proper drivers (shouldnt even have to do anything!), use your drive :-D

Floppy drives

Thanks for the info. Just making sure, seems like everything else needs drivers!

You could save yourself some cash and go to a local thrift store and get one for a buck or 2. Unless you really use it all that often, it doesn't matter. I just painted over the faceplate and stuck one in. I've got 4 or 5, but this ones over a year old and still runs fine
