Visiontek Geforce 2 MX400 great card.

About 3 days ago i got a Geforce 2 MX 400 64mb SDR(visiontek) from a friend for 50 bucks. Not bad at all.

Defaults on this card were 175/166. The card came with no heatsink/fan.

Without a heatsink/fan i was only able to o/c to 217/168. For some reason the mem would only goto 168 without artifacts. The ram is 6ns.

Now i added a VERY BIG socket 7 heatsink/fan and it now goes to 234/180. For some reason when i go above 235....it freezes no artifacts just freeze.

Any ideas?

Im running a Celeron 266 @ 424 2.3v (default is 2.0v) 106fsb. 64mb PC100 3-3-3 win2k. In q3 it runs all the way up (1280x1024x32 max everything) and doesnt go below 25fps the whole time. Im pretty impressed by this card.

I am going to buy some ramsinks soon.

Visiontek is making some really nice cards these days. I got my Visiontek GF3 Ti200 up to 230/534 from 175/400, and you get your GF2 high too. I can tell you what company I'm buying my next video card from: Visiontek.

Congrats on the overclock man!

I got MSI MX400 64SDR, and I just added a small fan on the stock heatsink, now its clocked at 220 core and 187 ram. When I touch the ram, its not even hot. Same with the heatsink, only a little bit warm.... I wonder if I should try going higher....

oh yea, and I like MSI too.

Carmine when you ressurect your duron system and A7A motherboard you can see if the card will do any more. When I went from my Iwill KK266 to my Epox 8K7A I gained a few MHZ for my video card.

Yea, im hoping for it to raise a little bit.....the memory mostly. Im extremely please with the core overclock.

I think im still gonna get those ramsinks from 2cooltech and see what that does....maybe not much but it will do something.

I noticed the lock up prob with higher core speeds also. I found leaving the GPU at 200 and hitting the mem gave better results. The memory is the bottle neck here.

NOT HOT? You may want to check and make sure that the heat sync is mounted ok. Not hot can be a BAD thing. You want them warm so you know that there doing there JOB!!
