new video card or not?

Ive "pre"ordered Half Life 2 but just hope my vid card is upto it, ive got a ati 9500np which softmods to a 9700 pro no problem, I run it day to day at 350/320 so its technically faster than a standard 9700pro, I was thinking of getting a 9800se to try the same but so far cant find one in UK, thing is will i notice much of a jump to a 9800 from what ive got already?

Hmmm, it's also quicker than my 9700 pro overclocks to without artefacts. I must have got the worst one ever manufactured.

You might find the attached article interesting though. It looks like a close call between what you've got and the 9800se, if you can even get one.

bradmax57, could you please compare it to your 9500-9700 with some simple benchies and general game play? What are the AIW features like?

03 does different tests like pixel shader 2.0 and the 9800 is geared up for this.
