Look out for Bargains

I don’t like to boast, well actually I do but this also is for your benefit for future shopping on hardware in the UK. A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from a friend on a Friday who asked me if I had Mondays paper? I asked why and he told me that a local computer company had advertised a Radeon 9800pro Excalibur for only £141. Now by law in the UK a shop that advertisers the wrong price for a product has to honour the offer for at least seven days of the advert being published. So my friend rang around and duly was able to reserve two of those items for us to purchase. Once we got to the store and I showed the newspaper they had no choice but to sell us the Radeons for only £141 each. So now when I scan through any newspaper I always check the adverts because you never know when there’s a bargain on offer

Well done, a 9800 for that price is a very good deal!

I work for one of the upper tier box manufacturers, we got a chap here who came to us from dixon group so has friends there who forwarded this on. If you got to it in time it was an amazingly good offer.
In this instance it was a ****-up with the product offered. Was meant to be a 9600 for £141, the printers got it wrong hence 9800 for £141
I didnt have the cash to spare tho... gutted

Yep you know you know the deal im on about, most of my friends tried to scramble out to get one but they where too late, alot of them dont talk to me anymore. The best thing was i sold my 9700pro for more than I paid for the 9800 leaving me with enough spare cash to do some mods on it.

Well for £130 you can't go wrong can you. Has anybody else gone for this card? What scores do you get in your 3dMark Bradmax?

I've had mixed reports on this...some folks are saying that the other 4 pipelines on this card cant be unlocked?
I guess from replies here im wrong (and on another site which i've forgotten 50%+ of people got it working correctly)
Can someone just confirm that the softmod for this card completely unlocks it to 8 pipelines? That will do... the rest is just tweaking and seeing what can be got with various cooling solutions
