Which monitor out of these?

Either:

Samsung Syncmaster 959NF
LG F900P
Iiyama Visionmaster 455

All are 19" and have about the same price.

Help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

What's the dot pitch on the Samsung (can't look up the specs right now)?

I've got a 955, with a .20 dp, and the picture is absolutely crystal clear. It's a pretty no frills monitor, but a solid performer IMHO.

Idek Iiyama makes some pretty solid products as well.

The only LG products I have any experience with are the low end 15", which tended to be crap. To be fair, though, the 15" market is very tough.

IMO, good 'safe' brands of monitors are:

Viewsonic
Sony
NEC Mitsubishi
Samsung

Some LG products are very good. The LG L1710B TFT display I have is very good. I don't know anything about the LG F900P, so I can't comment on it.

I've got the Samsung 955DF and I love it! The 959NF has a .24 pitch instead of the .20 like mine, but it should be rock solid. I only found one reference to the 959NF (which indicated it had a .24 pitch), but I wasn't able to find it on the Samsung site, or in PriceWatch? What price range are you looking at?

I have 2 Samsung 955DF's (sorry, I know it's not the one you are asking about).
I love them. I bought them for my kids... I figured that they have a lifetime of looking at artificial screens, so the better picture quality might cause less eye strain. The monitor is very heavy and bulky, but with a flat screen, the picture quality is excellent, with high refresh rates too. I think my son runs 1024x768 @ 100 or 110. My monitor can't do that.

I just found another reference to the monitor here. I'll stand by my previous post, if it is up to the normal Samsung quality (which it should be) then it should be your best buy. Samsung monitors are great, and extremely reliable. Plus, their flat screens are among the best.

I'm using a SyncMaster 957MB. Its cheaper than the 959 and has a 0.2 Dot. It is crystal clear at 1152 x 864 at 100Hz.
From the posts above everyone is using Samsung monitors, and loving them!
Can you view both of the displays in a shop somewhere before you buy?

Laz.

They are from three different stores so I doubt about seeing them all in action unless we make a video conference or something.

The 959NF is 0.24 dot pitch but it is actually superior to the 957MB. It has a Diamondtron screen, easily runs 1280x1024@100Hz and most people have recommended that one.

I actually bought the 959NF about a week ago but unfortunately it was defective and I got my money back. It was jittery even at 100Hz and the text was all blurry, but even then it was pretty solid.

I can't find anything on the Iiyama 455 Pro, I know the 454 Pro is great, the 455 Pro is 100$ cheaper. So far I haven't got a clue about it.

The LG is also supposed to be good.

All of them are about 350$ and those manufacturers are my only choice;

Viewsonic -> not available in Croatia
Sony -> can't afford it
NEC -> can't afford it
Mitsubishi -> can't afford it

My 21" Samsung was faulty out of the box - it wouldn't focus correctly. This can happen with any CRT becuase they get damaged in transit by being dropped and bumped around.

If you are buying in a shop get them to test it before you leave - it will save you lugging it back again.
