You have to be carefule with the Saphire Radeon 9800Pro cards. Some have a 128 bit memroy bus which will criple the card. You need to make sure what you are buying and save all web pages just in case. Saphire is also selling Radeon 9800Pros that have a 256 bit memory bus and are actual Radeon 9800 Pros, these go for about $30 more.

So If it's a Saphire 9800pro that is about $170 it is probibly a 128 bit card and one for around $200 would be the 256 bit card.

I would get a 256 bit 9800 Pro over a 9600XT. I wouldn't want to find out how a 128 bit 9800Pro performs.

the 128 bit 9800 pro's can be found in all-in-wonder, SE, and Pro forms.
i have just bought 3 ATI 9800 128mb pro's...2 with r350 gpu's, one with a 360. Luck of the draw it seems.
you will see a definate visual difference...even though the 9800 has slower clock speeds, having twice the number of pipelines makes up for it.
i just went from a 9600np that would get 3900 points in 3dmark03 to the 9800's, ans while overclocking the 9600, i noticed that my card was scoring higher than some 9600xt's.
AFAIK, the 9600xt's have more headroom for overclocking when cooled properly, but the 9800 is my current fav. IMHO the 9800 pro 128-bit is a 9600 xt with 8 pipelines.
Do like I am, save a couple bucks a little while longer, and ge the asus 9800 pro 256MB....it is a full out 9800XT with lower clock speeds...temp monitoring and everything.

BTW ATI's site sells 128mb 256-bit 9800 pro's for a decent price...can be had for 300 canadian any day of the week as well

Go with the 9800pro (256), if you wanted to you could even flash it to an XT.

well the 6800 is the biggest leap in video cards in a lonnnnng time compared to the 5950. However the 6800 (not GT or ultra) has fewer texture(?) pipes and its clocked considerably less than the ultra(which is what everyone compares) so I dont know if its actualy still a ton better.

take the 6800

the 6800 is one generation newer than the 9800 pro...and hence better graphics. However, the 9800 pro will outperform the 6800 when extremely overclocked, but only in antistropic filtering.
