Question

I was reading an article on TechZone last night and they were testing the new GF4's. nVidia has divided thier vid cards into 2 segements. The 4000 line for avid gamers, and hi-end graphics, CAD etc work.

The MX line is for corporate productivity only. In gaming the MX really "sucks".

nVidia has dropped the 4200 card from the hi-end models, because it is designed to retail below $200.00. nVidia thinks this card will kill the MX line, and they are relying on the MX line to make major $$$.

Question

GeForce4 Ti 4200

No information available; found as mentioned in the recent Detonator drivers.

GeForce4 Ti 4400

ASUStek V8440. Core: 300; Memory: 550;
Company1. Core: 350; Memory: 550;
NVidia reference, sent to the testers. Core: 300; Memory: 550;

GeForce4 Ti 4600

ASUStek V8460 Ultra. Core: 330; Memory: 660;
Company1. Core: 350; Memory: 650;
Company2. Core: 350; Memory: 660;
NVidia reference, sent to the testers. Core: 300; Memory: 650;

GeForce4 MX420

ASUStek V8170 SE. Core: 250; Memory: 166;
Prolink. Core: 250; Memory: 166;
Company1. Core: 250; Memory: 166;

GeForce4 MX440

ASUStek V8170 DDR. Core: 270; Memory: 200 (400);
Prolink. Core: 270; Memory: 200 (400);
Company1. Core: 270; Memory: 200 (400);
Company2. Core: 270; Memory: 460;

GeForce4 MX460

ASUStek V8170 Pro. Core: 300; Memory: 275 (550);
Prolink. Core: 300; Memory: 275 (550);
Company1. Core: 300; Memory: 275 (550);

It seems that it everyone chooses such core and memory frequencies, that they like. We cannot say that there are strict reference clockings for NVidia based solutions for the GeForce4 line. Is it good or bad? Well, a smart customer, who knows what he buys, now definitely has a chance to buy a faster boards, however, an average user does not ask about the frequencies - he just buys, therefore, has all the chances to buy a slow videocard.

For complete understanding of the situation around the GeForce4 line of graphics processors, we recommend you to read the following news-articles:
NV25: Features and Specs
NV17: Features and Specs
GeForce4: something about pricing and clocking

Question

www.reactorcritical.com

This is in the news section. I looked for the interview with a nVidia person so I could post the link to it. But it was late when I was doing some reading on this, and since I do not use nVidia products I did not specifically make note of where it was. I back tracked for awhile but was not able to locate the same artical.

I also have seen these specs on a news site... also don't have a link... prolly cause I saw it was a waste of time anyway to be bothered with these cards

Question

Pinky::you are absolutely correct. The only reason I posted this on several forums is::There are still a lot of young enthusiests out there that believe anything with GF on it is the thing to have. I just wanted these and anyone else that is reading this forum to know that the GF4MX line of cards is mainly for the corporate use productivity use only. Even this is a false product. I have read that nVidia has brought out a lot of obsolute chips and renamed them as a new product and added some features that were not available on the original product.. This is exactly the case of these cards. A source, which I don't remember because Iwas reading some news articals a couple nights ago, (couldn't sleep). Stating this card is in essense a GF2 core and renamed GF4.
