Poor intel, they survived the GPU because of the promise of more realistic AI and physics with the geometry calculations being done seperately, all thats needed now is an AI chip, something that would be useful for more than just games but also speech/face recognition

Well, the existing physics magic isn't so bad in games like HL2, i.e. Source engine. But, after the initial excitement it is easy to see it is all still quite basic.

This card will allow, for example, a tree branch to move as you brush past it or for a building to explode in a realistic fasion with the trajectories of each block calculated realistically.

I've worked on collision detection software. It's not something which is difficult to do, but if you want the code to work accurately the amount of maths needed increases dramatically and it all needs to be recalculated as soon as something moves. Quite a burden for a CPU which is already busy doing other stuff.

Which is why we need dual-core cpus and dual-gpu video cards! LOL

unfortunately i dont think the GPL covers open source hardware
