the X700 is a non event, much like the X600 before it.

There isnt an X700XT anymore, only an X700PRO and its less capable than the 6600 let alone the 6600GT.

Yeah but on a 128bit bus and with only 8pixel pipelines then the differance between 128 and 256 is minimal, any game that benefits from more is just going to be held back by fill rate and memory bandwidth.
6600GT rules the midde end market

http://hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzA4

here is a review of the X700PRO by hardocp. They have a very good review system that evaulates real world gaming performance as well as gives you a report on how the card handles and feels, samples of image quality in current mid to high end games, and overclocking experiences as they were encountered by the hardOCP team.

HardOCP has been the most honest and fair reivew site going around for quite some time now and unlike the inquirer, their tech news isnt made up or stolen from little kids gaming forums.

the 6600GT is THE card in the mid range market to buy. SLI capable in PCI-E form, more than adequate in AGP form, cheap, fully SM3.0 and video processor capable and well made.

ATI has no line up at the moment. The X800XT, X800XTPE, X850XT, X850XTPE are insane cards with performance to match their price tags. Everything below an X800XT is mediocre to downright rubbish. the X300 and X600 being particularly rubbish.

Until the X800XL hits shelves in force, or a new ATI generation comes out, ATI cant compete in any market except the top end.

Sparkle have a very nice 6600GT AGP, and Albatron also have very good 6600GTs.

Albatron have come along way recently and produce very good products these days. My 6800GT overclocks like mad and comes within a hair of beating cadaveca's X800XTPE. Just check back here after you get the card and well get you hooked up with some hot drivers.

I believe the Zalman VF700-Cu is compatable with the albatron and I've heard of people overclocking to 600/1.2 with those

I realise nobody is perfect, and yes i do mean for a fair amount of time they have been the best of a bad bunch. I was also particularly reffering to their video card reviewing which is done differently to most other sites and offers a more accurate protrayal of a card's performance.

Well, I've always expected LESS from the old [H]. And there last MASS banning only reinforced that.

Afaik xbit labs is one of the few non-bias review pages out there and better than [H].

The XL does look to be a very good choice, it's the card the Pro should have been.
