New 3D Tech Demo Files With the launch of the 7800GTX flagship card, Nvidia has released two new 3D tech demos, called Luna, and Mad Mod Mike. In typical Nvidia style, the first demo is a chick with decent err... features. Those features include Shader Model 3.0 effects galore, and some extremely life-like renderings of a girl beautiful enough to put in a plastic sealed magazine. ![]() The second is Mas Mod Mike. Mike is a rocketpack wearing fat guy that breaks into children's bedrooms while they sleep, turning their weak celeron with onboard graphics into a pro gaming machine, and modding it to boot! Now, these demos obviously run best on 7800GTX cards, but contrary to what Nvidia initially said, these demos run perfectly, at a great frame rate on EXISTING Geforce 6 series Shader Model 3.0 hardware due to the shared technology. For me, with a 6800GT, and a 3200+ which scores around 6500 in 3DMark05, I get around 60fps in Luna, and 50-90fps in Mad Mod Mike. If you own a 6 series and want to see some pretty special things from your card this is well worth getting. This means graham, devilmyarse, wonderbread, bradmax, daniel, danrok, and the rest of you 6 series owners out there Both these demos are available NOW! at www.aoafiles.com Click Here To Download the Nvidia Luna 7800GTX Tech Demo (132MB) Click Here To Download the Nvidia Mad Mod Mike 7800GTX Tech Demo (152MB) For ATI users, Cadaveca has kindly uploaded the ATI DoubleCross tech demo (featuring the lovely, though nowhere near as atractive as Luna ATI chick, Ruby) Click Here To Download the ATI DoubleCross Tech Demo Im trying to gather a bunch of 3D tech demos on AOAFiles at the moment. Several people have had cards recommended to them in the forums, and have been looking for things that push their card, and show off its features and capabilities so they can see what they paid for. These tech demos are just the thing for that, and also look very cool, so if ANYONE has a nice 3D tech demo from a 3rd party source, or a 3D tech demo that isnt listed yet in the new "Technology Demos" section of AOAFiles (and there are alot of them), upload it for us! Can anyone do some?

Thanks for the Upload of Blobby Dancer for 64 bit Windows Monkeyman! Click Here To Download the Nvidia Blobby Dancer 64 Bit Demo This is the first 3D tech demo that can demonstrate the difference between 32bit and 64 bit performance. There are two seperate excecutables included, one 32bit and one 64 bit. The performance difference can be seen and measured. The 32 bit version will work under windows XP, but the 64 bit version will only work under Windows XP x64 Edition.

You probably had some driver issues back then since you only just had the card. When I first got mine, I 3Dmarked 2700. Now Im over 6500. also leave all AA and AF off when doing tech demos. If you 3Dmark more than 5000, it will be quite smooth. Over 2800 will still do though. Interestingly, Luna runs faster for me that Nalu did. Its been rumoured that the code behind Nalu's magic hair was very bulky and poorly written. Hence Luna is an anagram different spelling of Nalu. Yet another hint that this is a refresh rather than a new technology.

I've just tried running Luna and i get to the screen that says "Luna and the ocular oracle" and buttons that say menu options mode about etc and then nothing happens... i wait... and wait.... no activity from hard drive... nothing.. hmmmm |
| ||||
*sigh* Why do you people always have problems running things lol. It does take a considerable amount of time to load stuff when its at that screen, so give it a little time. What drivers by the way?

80.40, just run it again, it worked but was running at less than 1 fps. Then i went into the driver panel forced 0xAA and 0xAF and quality to performance and it ran at 1~fps for the first bit where she walks up the steps but once the camera pans so it's facing her it slows to a practical halt ![]() Guess my computer just isn't cut out for this stuff! Gonna try the mad mike demo and if that doesn't work, i'm giving up on the whol nvidia techdemos 'til i can afford an SLI 7800GTX system :P |

Its your computer. Something is drastically wrong, and I think you may be at the stage where you need a full reinstall. You are having so many problems right now, and that kind of performance is far, far below what you should be getting with that system. There is something seriously wrong.

It's a fresh install. Monday the 14th June 2005 i installed the card cos my system was totally borked and i was away on the weekend, came back to a borked system NOT a nice surprise to say that the system is password locked at bootup so none of the computer illiterates in the family can bork it! It was borked though! So while it wasn't working (booting to black screen, nothing after the POS, not even a sniff of a windows bootup screen) i decided to install the new card. Installed, fixed the computer, installed windows, all was dandy again, woohoo new gfx i thought, let's test this baby out loaded up UT2004, (Your CD-Key is corrupt please install the game again) "NUTS" i thought to myself. I installed HL2, crappy performance, bah! Figured out how to unlock the pipelines. Played again, good performance but still nothing on the performance i get today, i jumped for joy. Found this lovely site and told you of my woes, and found a solution! Still can't run these blasted tech demos though!!! I think it's the motherboard personally. I really don't want to face upto building another system from scratch though tbh, not after plowing about £300 into this one to get it running half decent! I definately don't wanna shell out for a new PCI-E graphics card either! |

I'll have to check these out. Thanks, Rob

sounds like there may be a driver issue of some kind slowing the demos down on your system, my system wont run them silky smooth but still quite watchable.

That Luna demo is awesome. It's not quite smooth enough for actual gameplay on my 6800 but I'd figure a 780GTX would do it justice. Graphics improve all the time, but there is always that certain something with realtime graphics that give it away, a slightly blocky texture, a not quite curved surface etc.. but in a couple more generations I can see that being gone and games being on par with pre-rendered movies of a few years back |
