Pan Problems?

Pans? When there are sweeping pans in movies I notice a weird sensation that seems like the video is unable to keep up with the pan in a uniform way. I have had this happen with this computer on a 21”CRT a 19” LCD and now with my DLP projector. So I feel like I can rule out the display as being the cause. Does that sound like a graphics card problem?

well yes and no. The source is my computer. But in the first two instances the cable was a VGA cable so the signal was analog. But now I am using a DVI to HDMI cable so the signal is digital. The panning problem still exists. But I have tried a crt monitor, an LCD monitor and a DLP projector. I feel like my video card may not be nice enough? I guess I should wait until my new computer is done so I can try a different DVI source.

Is it a tearing effect? If so, enable v-sync

Well what it looks like is that not all of the pixels are going the same speed. So that when there is a big pan or dolly shot it is unsettling. sometimes on the 21" monitor it looks like a 2 inch wide vertical strip is going faster or slower than the rest of the screen.
