Question Error msg on last test of 3dMark 2001se on the Advanced Pixel Shader 16/17

I just installed my new retail ATI Radeon 8500 GPU and I was just about to complete the benchmark, then it kix an error msg after attempting test#16 out of 17, The Advanced Pixel Shader on Mad Onion's 3dMark 2001se. The one w/ the fishes and the boat.......I got this error msg:

Could not create render target depth-stencil surface - D3DERR_INVALIDCALL

Any ideas, I'm running the latest ATI supported driver 4.13.9016

My D3D settings are as follows:

Wait for vertical sync - enabled
Compressed texture format - enabled
Z-buffer bit depths 16;24;32
Use error diffusion dithering
Desktop at 1024-768 x 32 bit colors

I actually alternated the above D3D settings on/off and changed the dithering and still #16 would not run, kix me out again & again !?!?!

Any input would be greatly appreciated......

I will post my 3dMark score after I put the finishing touches on my nu sys! My current system is an o'clkd celie 366@551 w/Radeon 8500, 128 megs SDRAM, ABIT ZM6, IBM 10gig/5400rpm, Win98......

I had this same set-up w/ a PNY GeF 3 Ti200, I RMA'd it back for the Radeon....paid $160. for the ATI....This was a few weex back, now its $140. lol.....

3dMark2001se w/PNY = 3475
w/ATI = 3788

My nu system which will be completed by this weekend will be:

EPoX 8KHA+
Antec SX-830, PP303XP psu (god I hope this enough for AGP Volt)
AMD 1700+ CPU
IBM 40 gig/120GXP/7200rpm
256 DIMM DDR Crucial PC2100
Radeon 8500 (Retail)
Windows XP

I'm hopeful my next score will be 5,000 pts. higher than the ones mentioned above...
