I just pulled the
HSF off my Radeon 8500. One hour in the freezer (I got distracted) and a credit card and flat headed screwdriver, and it came right off. I've heard people describe an earthshattering cracking noise, but mine was a few quiet pops, and it was off. Simple enough!
As for the MX400, mine was concave as well. Since mine had mounting holes, I used a compatible
HSF (from
Tennmax) and put a thicker glob of ASII in the very middle, and a thinner coat everywhere else. Did the same thing with AA on my Radeon 8500.
