New 6600GT AGP
3 Attachment(s)
I just got a new video card to play with, XFX model, and I'm pretty impressed.

Running 77.76 out of the box, no overclocking yet, no need to since these cards only OC about 10%... not really worth the effort.

I know the scores could be better, but this is on my P4 system.

Might be worth giving it a go, some of the 6600gt's can overclock well, but thats a good score at stock speeds.

I've seen a few reach a 600mhz core which ain't too shabby

Seems stable at 560 / 1120, which is about 10%. I won't have time to sit throught the benchmarks for a while tho...

This XFX has a gpu temp sensor, which I can read in the video app... is there any way to get MBM to recognize it?

Nope, and believe me, Ive tried lol. I found a small program on sourceforge that puts a GPU temp and ambient down in the tray that is copied off MBM, and Ive seen a few others that do the same thing. Its called GPUMON or something like that. Temps arent all that dangerous though, its safe up to 120C, and stable up to around 100+. At 120C it will thermal throttle on its own and at 140C it shuts down. They dont just boil like the FX chips sometimes did.

That seems quite a reasonable score to myself, I got 2860 on my P4 system using 3DMark05, but i think mine could be better, my memory is causing a bottleneck i think.

If thats single channel DDR in that machine then thats definately a problem, however if you are running a celeron, that is crippling you more. The celeron:P4 relationship is nowhere near as close as the Sempron:Athlon relationship, and to be honest, for gaming that thing is crippled badly. The memory compounds the issue, but a new CPU would do you more good than memory in your case.
