Venice A64 3000/3200 overclockability

would anyone like to share their overclocking results with a venice A64 3000 or 3200 core, and the set up you have (mobo, mem, voltages, etc)?

i've heard the new venice cores can easily reach 3700+ speeds with 4000 not unattainable, with air cooling alone.

i've been oc'ing for about 10 years now and i'm still running my Athlon XP 2100 Tbred oc'ed to 2300 core (stock is 1733. It's running equivalent to xp 3200+ speeds. two years ago my system was a screamer, now it's what would be found in an budget model. at least it will run games like Doom 3 & HL2 at a palpable rate.

i love the art of oc'ing and have made some trials and some errors over the years , but overall it's been quite rewarding.

welcome to the forums.

I wish I could give you some results but like you I am still on a Socket A system. T-Birb B 1700+ running at 11x200. It will run at 12x200 but I backed it off to run a slower cooling fan. I say it is still plenty fast enough. But it is getting a little old isn't it?

I've had an A64 3000+ Venice for a month and not been able to use it!
I bought a Asus A8V motherboard from the bargains section at overclockers with a 2 week warranty and realised the Venice was due out very shortly..
By the time the Venice arrived, the warranty had expired on the mobo and it was dead!

I should have another board in about 2 weeks. I'll build my water cooler onto it and I'll be happy to let you know the overclock etc
Please add a msg to this thread if I havent responded by 24th June and it will email me as a reminder to tell you.

Cheers

You might want to read this review . These CPU's are exceedingly good value.

Yeah, they are, that's why i'm getting one, incredibly overclockable, at about £100, they're dirt cheap. Also, Chernobyl, what were your results?

I posted in another thread here after I got my new board, Gigabyte K8NS Ultra.
Looking for good experiences with Venice o/c -- please share.
This chip flies!

The motherboard topped out with the chip still at default volts.
I prime tested it for 3 hours, no errors. Used Stress Prime 2004 - CPU test.

2.65GHz, 295MHz HTT.
Ambient 22C
Idle 32C
load 43C
stock heatsink

I gotta hope theres a way to unlock the chip multiplier or make the motherboard clock higher cos this chip will fly. I have a very good water cooler to put on it if so
For now, the stock cooler is more than enough.

I run at 2.6GHz, 290MHz HTT to guarantee stability.

Chernobyl, I would avoid OC'uk (not to be confused with overclock.co.uk), you don't want to hear my story. It's.....bad. They basically lied their backsides off to me.
No matter how tempting the bargains I'm not going there again.

Strangely I just had another hard time with www.overclockers.co.uk (OC'uk).

We placed an order for a Doctor with his own credit card.
A few weeks passed and no delivery
I emailed 2 weeks later and asked why, no response.
I mailed them to say their service isnt what it used to be, no response.

I mean whats the point of ordering if they dont send it and dont reply to emails.
I had to get the Doctor to contact his credit card company to disallow any payments to OC'uk. Not exactly the professional image I was trying to portray.
Very unreliable, I wont be using them again as there seems little point!
Their loss
