64-bit Java/Flash support making progress

Important news:

After waiting for a long time, 64-bit Linux users finally have something to be happy for-

Adobe has finally put up for download a native 64-bit version of Flash, something which didn't exist before now. 64-bit users were forced to use 32-bit flash/nswrapper in their browsers, which was just a work-around. It is an alpha version but according to reports it is working fairly well on most systems.

Available here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l...6_64.so.tar.gz

In a related vein Java has FINALLY announced an alpha of 64-bit java browser support. This has also been long awaited, and is equally important for 64-bit Linux users. Early reports say this is working as well.

Available here: https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html

I have been running 64-bit and have been wondering when these two puzzle pieces would fall into place. Looks like users have very little reason NOT to go to 64-bit now...lack of java/flash support has been a thorn in its side-until now.

Both working fine so far on my 3 64-bit 'buntu 8.10 machines & custom kernel. Was a pleasure to drop in, make a link or two for the java, and not have to run special scripts to install 32-bit flash stuff like before.
