Right, on Patti's computer, please go to:
Code:
http://localhost:631
Which is the CUPS control panel.

Click on Manage Printers.

Please send me a screenshot of that page.
Here ya go!

Excellent!

Now on Daniel's machine, please open your printer settings program. On the Settings tab, by "Device URI" please click "Change" and change the path to the following:

ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C

Save that making sure there are no spaces at the front of the line and try again.

Failing that, Patti's machine should now be broadcasting the presence of a shared printer to your LAN. The Fedora print settings tool should allow you to search for the printer from Daniel's machine and should be able to find it now.

EDIT:: Like this (sorry for the kolourpaint job)

As you can see it wanted to install missing files, but the "Quirey" screen once it poped up coundn't find what it wanted. The full line in the Change box now reads:

ipp://192.168.0.4ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C

Printer icon still says it may be disconnected.

WOOHOO!!!

The good news is that your printer configuration is correct on both machines, such that you should be able to print to the remote printer.

The bad news is that you're missing the other half of the printer driver. (Didn't realise that you didn't already have it). Fedora's package database should have a file called pnm2ppa in there somewhere.

What does the following give you?
Code:
yum info pnm2ppa
EDIT:: as Robbie rightly says, you might like to tidy up the ipp: address. You have
Code:
ipp://192.168.0.4ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C
written there, where you only need
Code:
ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C
in there.

OK so the fact that your computer has identified that it needs pnm2ppa means that your connection is fine. It's an odd little package that's only required for some HPDeskJet colour inkjets from several years ago.

So... what does:

yum info pnm2ppa

give you, then?

OK, the IP error is not a major problem, as CUPS seems to be ignoring it.

To fix the typo, however, open your printer settings tool. Under "Settings", by "Device URI" click "change". Remove all the text in that that box (and check it's empty) before pasting in:

ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C

Those last 2 screenshots look right. Try printing something to confirm.

If it pops up with the complaint that pnm2ppa is missing then that's good, and DON'T TOUCH the connection settings again

I still get the disconnected message and when I ignore it and tell it to print nothing happens.
