Oh joy. Let's try this just for amusement:

Open your printer settings tool. Under "Settings", by "Device URI" click "change". Remove all the text in that that box (and check it's empty) before pasting in:

ipp://192.168.0.4ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C

Yes, I know this looks wrong, but seemed to work before...

When I clicked "Change, the second box popped up!

I type in :

ipp://192.168.0.4ipp://192.168.0.4/printer/DESKJET-720C

But it saves as you see in the pic's above!

Here is after several attempts to make the change... The check mark on the Printer in the config box represents my having made this printer the default though out the system...in case you want me to undo that...?

Has Patti's computer been rebooted at all in the last 24 hours?

So let's try this:
Printer Settings -> Current Device

Click "Find Queue".

Let's at least see whether your computer can browse the network for available print shares.

OK. Please could you do this on Patti's machine?

su
gedit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

and paste up the output? I want to confirm that this hasn't changed since yesterday. Some google-work suggests that Fedora likes to restore certain config files to the default on reboot...

In the meantime, please stop fiddling with your connection settings. They're probably fine.

Right, so let's make sure the print server is running.

On Patti's machine:

su
/etc/init.d/cups restart

That was a bit optimistic, tbh.

Try this from Daniel's computer; in a web browser go to:
Code:
http://192.168.0.4:631
In theory you should be able to fiddle with the print settings on Patti's computer without actually having to be at her computer... scary thought, huh?

This has nothing to do with getting your printer working. I need some thinking time, tbh, as I'm not clear what's going wrong.

Just a thought:
On Daniel's computer:

Code:
su
gedit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
Replace:
Code:
# Log general information in error_log - change "info" to "debug" for
# troubleshooting...
LogLevel info
with:
Code:
# Log general information in error_log - change "info" to "debug" for
# troubleshooting...
LogLevel debug
save and exit gedit.

Still as root, restart cups on your computer with:
Code:
/etc/init.d/cups restart
Then try another print. When it fails, as root please do
Code:
gedit /var/log/cups/error_log
and copy/paste over the last few hours worth of logfile. Changing the log level means we'll see a lot more information about what CUPS is doing.
