I'm not sure why I copied the Windows instructions. The same can be achieved by opening up your internet browser and typing in the ip of 192.168.0.1
1. Click Start > Run.

2. Type telnet 192.168.0.1.

3. Type the password at the prompt. The default is 1234. The router menu appears.

4. Type 15, and press Enter to select SUA Server Setup. The Port Forwarding screen appears.

5. Enter the port number and your server's IP address. ( Port number is 22, IP address I usually set as 192.168.0)

6. Press Enter repeatedly until the cursor comes to the last line and saves the changes.

7. Type 99 to exit from the router settings.

Thanks Cliff. I find a pre exiting situation I don't know what to do with!":O} Do I start at # 3 space and leave things alone? I notice that 22 is short one or two digits compared to what is already there...?

Start from there, add port 22 and the IP addy.. That should set us for a connection to the Fedora box.

It's easy from here..

I "Think" we've got it! but I have to rest my arm. Patti's Fedora Firefox keep shuting down can't figure out why. I un installed and reinstalled it and no change. So finally I gave her Opera, but screwed up the Favorites or bookmarks Inport and...well I have to rest my arm...":O}

I'll check in tomorrow in the am.":O} YIKES! I should have asked...It makes no difference from which machine I made the Router change now does it?

The router can be changed by any rig.

On the Mint machine. Open a terminal, copy and paste the following:

Code:
nautilus ssh://Patti@192.168.0.4/Home
Enter the password, from there you should know what to do.

Results....not what we hoped.... Left side is picture (won't directly load, bad pic.) of first try... right side is second try....they look the same to me, but as I had to hand copy, may be wrong...

DOH!! Sometimes I forget that not everybody installs the same apps by default as I do.

open a terminal on the Mint Box.
Code:
 sudo apt install ssh
Code:
 sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart
Code:
 nautilus ssh://Patti@192.168.0.4
It will pop up with a security message, click on accept, then enter Patti's password at the prompt. Navigate to the home folder and grab what you need.

After that is all done and you transfer your files, we will change some settings in ssh to make it more secure, then we will add a bookmark to Pattis computer so you don't have to type it in every time..

nautilus ssh://patti@192.168.0.4

Might check under services on the Fedora Box. I believe it is enable by default but not positive. Might also want to disable the firewall under fedora for the time being..

Yes, you have SSH on Fedora boxes.

To disable the firewall on Fedora, go to the 'System' menu, then select the 'Administration' menu, and select 'Services'. In the dialog that opens up, there will a list of services on the left side. One of those services will be called 'IPTables'. Stop that service. When you choose to stop it, another dialog will pop up asking for your password. Make sure you give it your root password, not your regular user password.

Alternatively, you can pop a terminal, su to root, and then type:

service iptables stop

Which will do the same thing.

I'm not one to give up that easily, considering I can boot Mint here at the shop and see my files on a Fedora rig at home using the same method I can't see that we are too far from getting it in your house.
