Hi Cliff. I just made desktop, after much mulling over the thing...well I got nowhere and gave in to a defualt instal

1.Use entire drive
2 No advance storage system
3 No encryption
3 No modified partition
5 no video driver.

Set up e-mail and browser...

I'm really struck by the ease of Mint setup...Mint was the first time I could install a distro on my own with out help and get everything I wanted! LOL

But Fedora has always been a friend! ":O}

Mint has the advantage of being based on a proven distribution, Ubuntu, which in itself is based on a proven distribution, Debian. So it's the trickle down effect..

After you do all the Fedora updates you can reboot and start the installation of the nvidia driver

I'm thinking I'm a Mint kinda guy about now!

I'm thinking this isn't worth your trouble. I'm going straight back to Mint when we're done any way. Patti wants me to set her up in mint some time soon and I've been thinking of re-installing mint onto my better drives. What I'm going to do is nail her down when she has time and let her follow me though the set up on her machine as I do mine.

Many thanks Cliff.

I've read through your posts several times and still cannot find what went wrong. I have an idea on how to fix it though. Maybe when you have access to another computer so you can replay as to what is happening we can give it a shot.

I can use patti's, I'm assuming you want to be able to communicate while my machine is tied up during install and what not?

We just need to make an adjustment to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf but we have to do it without a desktop.

First post the outputs of

Code:
 cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Code:
 cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
Might just be able to make a few changes there and get it going..
