Ubuntu: the complete beginner's guide

Got a really slow PC that's just gathering dust? Give it a new life by ripping out Windows and replacing it with an open source OS

What Dan wants to say is; rather than using your old PC simply throw it out the windows !

What? Really? Is that a change in 9.10 or just that the author was using a rare or difficult wireless card (like a Broadcom)?

'cos the bootable 9.04 memory stick I have for sorting out other people's computers* seems to have no problem finding and using wireless devices out of the box.

* People do seem to get rather lonely here in Saudi. The number of slightly foolish souls that have managed to download or hand around programs that claim to get naughty pictures through Saudi's firewall, but that leave the computer with a nasty discharge and pain when urinating is both alarming and entertaining.

Perhaps renaming the memory stick "cefixime" would be taking the analogy too far?

Saudi? My uncle worked there along time ago, until he was deported after the police found a bottle of whiskey in his apartment. LOL

They're a little less strict now... he'd just get lashes.

Saudi is not a place that should appear on anyone's list of holiday destinations.
